Coastal Recycling expands Renault Trucks fleet with bespoke D12 skip truck
Devon-based waste and recycling specialist, Coastal Recycling, has bolstered its fleet with a new Renault Trucks D12 tailored for maximum manoeuvrability in commercial and residential sites with tight access.

The latest addition strengthens Coastal Recycling’s growing Renault Trucks fleet, which already includes two 6x4 23-plate tractor units and an 18-tonne skip lorry. With an additional D18 Wide skip truck and a C520 8x4 Ro-Ro on order, Renault Trucks remains the preferred choice for the operator’s 44-strong fleet.

Developed in partnership with Sparks Commercial Services, the new D12 has been carefully specified to ensure it meets Coastal Recycling’s operational demands. Its compact footprint and manoeuvrability ensure its capability to work in challenging commercial and residential environments.

Marc Williamson, Transport Manager, at Coastal Recycling commented: “We opted for Renault Trucks due to our strong working relationship with Sparks and their expertise in delivering bespoke vehicle solutions. After our positive experience with the artics, we had full confidence in their ability to specify the new D12 to our exact needs. Given the nature of our 12-tonne skip truck operations, maintaining a compact design was essential, and Sparks delivered the perfect solution.”

Marc added: “Elliot Tratt at Sparks provided excellent support throughout the process, keeping us informed at every stage of the build and ensuring the specification was spot on.”

Designed for maximum efficiency, the D12 is equipped with rear air suspension for added clearance in confined spaces. To further enhance its size and agility, the truck features aspect wheels, reducing the overall width over the rear wheels. Additionally, the Webb TA8000 extra reach skip handler, one of the most compact lifting systems available, provides unmatched versatility in restricted spaces.

Now fully operational, the D12 is already making an impact across Devon, providing an efficient and reliable service for commercial and residential skip collections. “Feedback from the driver team has been positive, with particular praise for its driveability and manoeuvrability,” said Marc. “As we continue to expand our Renault Trucks fleet, Sparks remains a key partner in delivering tailored transport solutions that support our business growth and customer needs,” he concluded.

All servicing, inspections, and MOTs will be carried out by Sparks Exeter as part of Renault Trucks’ comprehensive R&M package, ensuring continued performance and uptime.
